PSL Mathematics Contest
On Saturday 13 July 2024, Grade 8 learners sat a mathematics contest at Acacia Crest School in Kitengela. The paper mixed individual rounds with collaborative problem-solving. It was a public moment, and a diagnostic — not a stage show.
This sitting is on the record from the 16 July 2024 write-up. Individual medals were announced on the day. Scores were not published with the post, so this page does not invent a leaderboard. The 2026 Acacia Crest edition is the later sitting with scored scripts on this site.
The sitting
The morning opened with the headteacher, Mr Gideon Mutonya, and Ken Mugambi from Kurasa. Parents were in the hall. Ms Nancy Nui presented medals at the close. Those names are from the published account of the day. Winner scores are not.
The questions ran across algebra, geometry, arithmetic and logical reasoning. Team rounds were part of the design: learners had to argue a method, not only fill a blank. That is the PSL idea in an earlier, smaller form — a sitting that still belongs to the classroom week that follows.
Do not read this page as the 2026 results. Twelve schools and 207 scored scripts belong to that later edition. This 2024 sitting is Grade 8, at the same school, two years earlier. Keep the ledgers apart.
A contest recap without a results table is still a recap: date, venue, year-group, and what the paper was for. If a scored file from 13 July 2024 is cleared for publication later, it can sit beside this page. Until then we will not reconstruct medals from memory.
