Technology that supports the people who teach

Kurasa Africa builds digital tools for teaching, learning and school operations. We began with everyday teacher work and continue to learn with schools, partners and education teams.

Shule ni Mwalimu

The school is the teacher. Kurasa exists so the person closest to the learner holds the plan, the evidence and the next decision.

  • Teachers hold their own accounts
  • Everything we ship has to survive a Monday morning in a real classroom
  • Built on five years of learning in market

Our mission

Kurasa's mission is to build tools that nurture teachers and learners by making school work more connected and useful. That starts with the tasks educators and school teams need to complete, and with information they can understand, review and act on in context.

Our approach

Begin with a real workflow, listen to the people responsible for it and improve through implementation experience. Explore the product family, onboarding guidance and school stories to see different parts of that approach. Keep product activity, reported reach and measured education outcomes distinct when reviewing evidence.

Where we work

Kurasa has worked in Kenya, Ghana and Rwanda. Use the country pages to explore the relevant contexts, then contact the team for current product availability and implementation arrangements. The needs, partners and support involved in one setting should not be assumed to apply everywhere.

Build around the people doing the work

Teachers, school leaders and education teams need tools that fit the decisions and routines they already manage. Kurasa’s approach begins with those everyday tasks: planning, assessment, records and the conversations that follow. Product and implementation work connect the software to the school context in which it will be used.

Connect classroom practice and wider systems

A teacher’s lesson, a leader’s report and an authority’s programme review involve different responsibilities, but each depends on useful information and follow-through. Explore the product family, implementation stories and solutions to see these perspectives. Contact Kurasa to discuss how your school or organization can take part in the work.

Keep the teaching and learning loop connected

Teaching and learning runs as a loop: plan the learning, teach it, assess what happened, use the evidence and follow up. Where these steps sit in separate notebooks, spreadsheets and systems, the evidence tends to arrive too late to change the next lesson. Kurasa is built to keep the loop connected for the teacher, the school leader and the authority, each at their own level.

Vision

The digital curriculum partner for the school week.

We are a Kenyan company working in Kenya, Rwanda and Ghana. The weekday problem we solve exists in competency-based classrooms across the continent. We will name the next country when we are in it.

Mission

Tools that nurture teachers and learners.

Give educators a suite of clear, robust tools for planning, formative assessment and family updates — so growth is visible in the week, not only on closing day.

Backed by

Impact capital and education partners.

Acumen backs early-stage companies transforming essential services. iHub and EdTech Hub sit in the African innovation and research ecosystem. Distribution and programme partners such as KEPSHA, NaSIA and ESDEV help the same classroom record reach schools and districts.

Five values, kept short.

Kurasa stands with teachers. Support the person in the room, and the effect reaches learners, schools and communities.

Transparency

Openness and accountability to everyone who uses the record.

Reliability

Be trustworthy in what we say and in what the system shows.

Utility

Start from the job in the room, not from a feature list.

Simplicity

Unpack hard work into smaller, doable steps.

Teamwork

Teachers, families, schools and partners, pulling the same way.

The people who started it

Founders.

Kurasa is still a small team next to the classrooms it serves. These two started the work.
