Uganda · teachers, headteachers and programme teams

Follow the activity from preparation to feedback.

A learner’s explanation, a practical task and a teacher’s follow-up all belong in the teaching record. For Ugandan schools, a Kurasa conversation starts with the NCDC curriculum for your level and the way your teachers already plan and assess.

Local context

Different levels need different planning routines.

NCDC’s lower secondary curriculum takes a competency-based approach. P1–P3 use the thematic curriculum, with familiar language central to early learning. We begin with the right level, subject or theme, then review how its learning activities and assessment fit a school week.

  • For lower secondary, bring a subject syllabus, a scheme of work and one activity you teach.
  • For P1–P3, begin with the theme, learning area and language used in your classroom.

Your curriculum, your teaching practice

National curriculum, IB or Cambridge.

We use your school’s national curriculum, International Baccalaureate (IB) or Cambridge International programme as the reference for planning, teaching and assessment. The programme, level, subjects and syllabus edition are agreed during setup.

National pathway

Uganda national curriculum · NCDC syllabuses

National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC). We use the NCDC curriculum for your level: the P1–P3 thematic curriculum, the appropriate upper primary syllabus or the competency-based lower secondary curriculum. Work from the scheme of work, learning activity and continuous assessment record.

National curriculum reference

IB pathway

International Baccalaureate (IB)

Use the IB programme your school teaches: PYP, MYP, DP or CP. Connect inquiry, unit planning, classroom activities, reflection and formative assessment to the programme’s requirements.

IB programmes

Cambridge pathway

Cambridge International · IGCSE

Use the Cambridge programme and syllabus for your stage: Cambridge Primary, Lower Secondary, IGCSE, or International AS & A Level. Plan by subject and syllabus, keep assessment evidence and prepare the next teaching step.

The classroom routine

A scheme of work becomes a classroom activity.

Workspace brings lesson planning, attendance and formative evidence into one record. In a walkthrough, we explore that record against your curriculum and confirm the setup your school would need.

Prepare the learning activity

Identify what learners will do and the materials they will use. Plan questions that make their thinking visible.

Observe participation

Take the register, listen to discussion and note how learners approach the task, including those who need a different explanation.

Give feedback and revisit

Keep the observation alongside the assessment. Use it to prepare feedback, adjust the next activity and decide what needs further practice.

Evidence from the lesson

Keep the task, the observation and the feedback together.

A first lower secondary walkthrough could follow a practical science activity: what was prepared, what each learner attempted and what the teacher chose to revisit. For lower primary, we would begin with an activity from the current theme.

Use the walkthrough to agree curriculum requirements, classroom setup and staff support before planning the first teaching cycle.

Implementation

Start with your department or lower primary team.

  • Tell us whether the enquiry is for primary or secondary and share a sample scheme of work.
  • Review the subject or theme mapping and the assessment records your teachers need to keep.
  • Agree teacher access, a practice session and a review of the first teaching cycle.

Pricing

School plans in UGX.

Compare the school plans in Ugandan shillings (UGX). A classroom means one cohort of learners. Choose a billing period, then discuss curriculum setup, teacher support and the number of classes with our team.

Prices are per classroom: one cohort of learners, rather than one teacher or individual learner. KES and USD school-plan reference prices include applicable taxes. Local currency equivalents help you budget; your quote confirms the final terms.

Practical details

Make room for the way your staff work.

  • Language: tell us what teachers use for planning and instruction so we can review curriculum and staff support requirements.
  • Access: share the devices and internet connection available at school. Workspace requires connectivity; discuss any interruptions during the walkthrough.
  • Support: the Kurasa team at hello@mykurasa.com handles enquiries and agrees the onboarding scope with you.
  • Learner information: agree what your school needs to record and review the privacy notice before sharing personal data.

Curriculum resources and questions

Planning your first step in Uganda.

Is this only for lower secondary schools?

The starting point depends on your level. Lower secondary uses a competency-based curriculum; P1–P3 use the thematic curriculum. Share your level and documents so we can confirm the appropriate setup and assessment workflow.

What should we bring to a walkthrough?

A current curriculum document, a sample lesson plan and a description of the assessment records your staff keep. Use anonymised examples. Include your teaching language, class numbers and available devices in the enquiry.

Can a network or education programme start a discussion?

Yes. Tell us the schools and levels involved, who will support the teachers and the planning or assessment routine you want to work on. We will agree the scope and a suitable first phase with you.

Uganda

Show us how your teachers prepare and follow up.

Tell us your school level, subjects or themes, and where the planning and assessment record becomes difficult to maintain. We will use that routine to shape a Uganda walkthrough.
