Who can use this feature

Open School attendance in the correct workspace. School-wide trends, absence notes, follow-up and rules require administrative or CSO privileges and attendance access.

Before you start

Confirm the school, academic year and date before recording anything. Check that the learner belongs to the selected class for that year.

School attendance needs the correct school day, active classes and their class teachers. Marking still requires the assignment for each class.

Class / cohortClass-teacher assignmentThe class list comes from your class-teacher assignments in this workspace. Ask an administrator to check the assignment and academic year if it is empty.Learner rows load after choosing a class. Add or link the active learners to that class first; changing a role label does not populate the register.

The register supports Full Day (1), Half Day (2) and Absent (3). P, H and A appear in history. A dot or blank means not marked; it is not an absence.

  1. Open School attendance → Today and select the day you want to check. Review Registers marked and the classes labelled Not marked.
  2. Use the level filter if needed. Open the intended class or its Take register action and confirm the date.
  3. Check the class list against the source register. Complete actual marks and relevant comments; do not mark everyone Present simply to close the gap.
  4. Submit and check the success message. Return to the selected day and refresh the view to verify the class is marked and missing rows are resolved.

If section tabs are hidden on a phone, open More where available. Swipe wide tables sideways to reach every column.

On a phone, close the navigation drawer. Learners appear as individual cards with Full, Half and Absent options. Work down every card, type any comment, then scroll to Submit. Reopen the same class and date to verify.

Save and verify

Check both the class card and learner rows. A marked class can still need review; an empty class is not proof that attendance was taken.

Troubleshooting

A register remains open after submission?

Recheck the selected day, saved learner rows, active class membership and any save error. Ask the assigned teacher to resolve missing evidence before interpreting attendance rates.

If saving fails, keep your notes, check the connection and read the error. Reopen the same class and date to check what was saved before submitting again.
