Who can use this feature
Use your own account in the correct school workspace. The school Parents directory needs an authorised leadership role. Class teachers can manage parent links for their assigned class. SMS pages require an owner, co-owner or administrator role. Families use their own linked account.
Before you start
Create the class and assign its class teacher. Adding resources requires responsibility for that class or administrative access. Families need a verified learner link to see the associated class wall.
Required and optional fields
| Field | Requirement | Format or example | Prerequisite |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resource name and description | Required when applicable | Name is required. Description is optional but should explain the preparation or next action. Confirm the class before saving a note visible to its families. | Current school, permissions, academic year and saved learner/contact records. |
| Class resource files | Optional | Optional PNG, JPEG or PDF, up to 5 MiB per file. Review every file before attaching it to a class-wide resource. | Current school, permissions, academic year and saved learner/contact records. |
Picklist prerequisites
Resources belong to the selected class. A family’s class choices come from approved learner links and class membership. Files and lessons must exist before their actions or entries can appear.
Desktop walkthrough
Check the school, person and current record.
Screen walkthrough · 0:45Download GIF ↓- Open the correct class → Resources. Read the class name and year, then check existing cards before adding a new preparation note or file.
- Choose Add resource. Give it a clear Name. Use Description for the purpose, materials, date or next action. Files are optional; the name is required even for a text-only note.
- If attaching files, use readable PNG, JPEG or PDF files up to 5 MiB each. Check the complete file and its audience before upload. Individual reports and balances belong in individual records, not this class-wide space.
- Review and choose Save resource. Wait for the success message and check the saved card. Use Edit resource for an authorised correction and check the saved wording again.
- Families open their linked Class wall, choose the class and read Resources and Today’s Lessons. Check a file’s available preview or open action. Use SMS when you need an explicit recipient list, send confirmation and delivery checks.
Mobile walkthrough
On a phone, find Resources under the class’s More menu if needed. Fields stack in Add resource; scroll to Save resource and check the new card. Families scroll down their class wall to Resources. Open is unavailable on a text-only card without files.

Reopen the resource and check its name, description, files and class. Confirm an intended linked family can access it. A saved resource does not confirm that a family read it or that an SMS was sent.
Troubleshooting
A family cannot see the class or a file will not open?
Check the parent-to-learner link, class membership and selected school first. Confirm the resource was saved to that class. Check file type, size and readability; a card without a file has no file to open.
If saving or sending fails, keep the draft and read the error. Reopen the same record or campaign before retrying. Check what was saved or queued first to avoid duplicate invitations or messages.
