The 60 Decibels teacher study at a glance
In March 2024, 60 Decibels-trained researchers interviewed 208 teachers using Kurasa in Kenya, drawn from a client population of 991.
- 95% said their teaching practices improved.
- 94% said their quality of life improved, and 73% said very much.
- 86% reported less time on administrative tasks.
- 87% said learner academics improved, and 90% said classroom participation increased.
- Net Promoter Score was 40, below the 60 Decibels education benchmark of 51.
How to read these figures
The findings are teacher-reported. The interviews were by phone, the margin of error is ±5% at 95% confidence, and Acumen sponsored the study. The study did not test learners, so it describes what teachers observed rather than measured learning gains. Forty percent of teachers had met a technical snag, and their Net Promoter Score was 15, against 57 for the rest.

Each shorter piece cites the same 208 teachers: time on administration, planning, learner participation, family engagement and quality of life. Reach figures are shown separately as a previously published snapshot with definitions.
Read different kinds of evidence together
Teacher accounts, documentary material, surveys and product records answer different questions. A story can show how a workflow feels in practice, while a study needs its sample and method to be understood. Explore the linked evidence with its date and context before applying a finding to another school or programme.
Ask what the evidence supports
Consider who participated, what was measured and which limitations affect the interpretation. Reach and usage figures describe participation; they do not alone show a change in learning. The methods page explains the questions to bring to a readout, and the case studies connect evidence to specific implementation settings.
