Check that attendance and assessment records are complete before reading patterns.
List the classes and learning areas that are behind and ask what is in the way.
Agree one support action for each, with an owner and a date.
Return to the list at the next review.

The first thirty days

Week 1: check classes, learners and staff roles.
Week 2: start with one routine, such as attendance or planning, in every class.
Week 3: hold a short check-in where teachers say what slowed them down.
Week 4: look at the first records together and agree the next routine to add.

Questions for a leadership meeting

Which strands are teachers finding hardest to cover?
Which learners were absent most, and what has been done to follow up?
Which assessment results should change what we teach next?
What would make the next three weeks easier for staff?
