What this paper is

This note explains the sources and definitions behind the published reach figures. Read the 2023 impact report for the year-three account and the April 2024 60 Decibels report for the teacher study based on March 2024 interviews.

The 2023 ledger

By the end of 2023 Kurasa was three years old. The published snapshot was 20,000 learners, 42 schools, 17 counties, and an implementation team of 13. Teachers used the product for lesson planning, schemes of work, attendance and formative assessment. Parents could follow a record without waiting for closing day. That chapter is on film and in the PDF linked below.

The 2026 ledger

As of 29 August 2026 the conservative N+ counts are: 6,000+ teachers, 150k learners, 10M+ assessments delivered. N+ means at least N. Teachers are distinct users who have ever held the teacher role. Learners are published as 150k; ever-enrolled sits a little higher and is not the homepage number. Countries named in public are Kenya, Rwanda and Ghana.

How 10M+ is counted — and what is left out

The 10M+ figure estimates cumulative formative student assessment records using historical batches and 2026 record density. Daily Challenge plays and approximately 1.08 million PSL summative scores are counted separately.

Work in Kirinyaga with Brink, the Jacobs Foundation and Kenya’s Teachers Service Commission supported Kurasa’s introduction to public schools. The Partners page describes that programme context and its approximately 400-school reach.

The March 2024 study of 208 teachers recorded an NPS of 40 against an education benchmark of 51. KISEL’s licensing work with Ghana’s NaSIA and ESDEV Foundation Africa sits under an October 2025 MoU. The record

Two years, two documents.

Our Story keeps the origin and the film. Impact keeps the short reading. This paper keeps the dated addendum.
