Origin
Kurasa began as a trust experiment: hire teachers, reach learners at home, and see whether an online school could hold. The software came after the holding.

From then to the name
Lockdown
When physical doors closed, an online school was set up so teaching could still reach homes.
The pivot
As it gained traction, the same tools looked useful beyond a single school. That work became Kurasa.
The name
Kurasa is a page: the lesson, the register and a child’s progress living together.
2023
The film and report record 20,000 learners, 42 schools, 17 counties, a team of 13 — a snapshot of that year.
The online school was called Ziada School. The lesson of that period was not “scale.” It was that planning, attendance and assessment still had to live somewhere when the building did not.
The product that followed is teacher-first on purpose. It helps teachers plan the week, keep professional documents, mark attendance and run formative assessments. Families get a record they can open. Governments and partners get a later conversation. The origin story does not skip the staffroom.
