Parents in CBC: a weekly picture, not a closing-day surprise

CBC asks parents to be in the learning, not only at the prize-giving. That only works if the picture from school is frequent and ordinary. A portal nobody opens is not involvement. A weekly update a guardian can read after supper might be.

Practical teaching guide, updated September 2026. Use the examples to discuss lesson preparation, classroom observations and follow-up with your teaching team.

What parents actually need

What was taught. How the child is doing on the strand, in language that is not a threat. A way to ask the teacher without waiting for closing day. If three children are in the school, they should not need three logins — Miss Wanjiru asked for that in the 60 Decibels human story. The request still stands.

Two ledgers

Use Kurasa Home and the guardian updates enabled by the school to share learning information with families. Daily Challenge offers a separate short practice routine at home.

Collapsed here

Build family communication into the term. Share what the learner is working on, explain the next practice opportunity and give the family a clear way to respond.

At home

The week should be visible without a closing-day queue.
