Ang problema

Three workflows. One week.

Teachers in Kenya, Rwanda and Ghana still manage lesson planning, attendance and assessment in separate places — paper, Excel, scattered apps. Friction and data loss follow. Competency-based curricula ask for a living record; most schools rebuild that picture at the end of term.

Thesis

If the person in the room is unsupported, the reform does not land.

The classroom management market will consolidate around platforms built by teachers, for teachers — not top-down systems imposed by districts, and not tools that add to the burden. Kurasa puts planning, formative assessment, attendance and parent updates in one workspace per school — then uses Problem Solvers League and inspectorate tools when a county or authority needs the same picture at scale.

Mga ebidensiya

Demand we did not have to invent.

Self-registered users show organic demand. Ten million-plus formative assessments show sticky weekday use. Workspace 2.0 took years to find product-market fit; adoption is now accelerating. PSL Daily Challenge reaches families directly with much lower acquisition cost than school sales, and unit economics that can scale.

Sustained partnerships with KEPSHA, NaSIA (Ghana), ESDEV, EdTech Hub and others keep distribution on trusted school structures — not cold outreach alone.

Pangitain

Two million learners in Kenya — then East Africa.

Reach two million learners in Kenya by 2028. Then Rwanda and Ghana at scale. Then East Africa. Built on sustainable teacher-led unit economics — not subsidised models that collapse when the grant ends.

How we get there

School week plus family practice.

Workspace holds the school week. Daily Challenge grows the family channel. Together they diversify revenue and keep capital efficient after years of learning what does not scale.

Capital

Backed to reach public schools. Not a listed company.

Kurasa is an Acumen portfolio company (2022) and a Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellow. Public-school work with Brink, the Jacobs Foundation and Kenya’s Teachers Service Commission is why we now serve classrooms at county scale. Round size, valuation and the cap table are not published here.

We speak with funds that understand software in African education systems. Our work connects school distribution in Kenya, Ghana and Rwanda with the classroom planning, attendance and assessment record in Workspace.
