Who can use this feature
Sign in with your own account and choose the school workspace. Open aiDE, AI credits, Questions or Feed from the available navigation. Access and options depend on your workspace role and teaching assignments.
Before you start
Open AI credits in the correct workspace. Personal balances and the school administration view differ. School owners and authorised administrators manage allocations, requests and plans.
Required and optional fields
| Field | Requirement | Format or example | Prerequisite |
|---|---|---|---|
| Share, Used, Left and held | Check before continuing | Read the balance and term before starting. A held amount is reserved; a request acknowledgement is not an allocation. | Current workspace, your permissions and the selected saved records. |
| Credits requested | Required in this form | Enter a whole number of at least 1. The school decides whether to allocate the requested amount. | Current workspace, your permissions and the selected saved records. |
| Why / request reason | Optional | A short description of the planned preparation. This field is optional; useful context helps the school review the request. | Current workspace, your permissions and the selected saved records. |
Picklist prerequisites
The personal or administrator view comes from workspace permissions. Balance and request details belong to that workspace and term. The amount field accepts a number; it does not provide a currency or plan picklist.
Desktop walkthrough
Check the page, school and current context.
Screen walkthrough · 0:45Download GIF ↓- Read the term and your share, Used, Left and any held amount. Held credits are reserved for work in progress; they are not the same as completed charges.
- Review By feature and Recent charges. Match the time and task to your own work. Check the current estimate or quote before starting another task; costs can vary with the work.
- If your personal view offers Ask for more, enter a positive whole number in Credits. Add a short reason describing the preparation you need, then check the amount.
- Choose Ask the school once and wait for the acknowledgement. The request awaits an administrator’s decision; it does not itself buy credits or increase your balance.
- Check the balance after the school responds. Administrators should review the Requests and allocation controls in their school view. Review current plan terms and prices before any separate purchase; this walkthrough only demonstrates a request.
Mobile walkthrough
Check the page, school and current context.
Screen walkthrough · 0:45Download GIF ↓On a phone, read the stacked balance cards, then scroll to Recent charges and Ask for more. Enter Credits and Why, close the keyboard, submit and read the acknowledgement below the button.
Save and verify
Confirm the request acknowledgement and recheck the balance after approval. Compare held credits with running tasks before assuming credits are missing.
Troubleshooting
No credits, a held balance or a different page?
Check the workspace, subscription state, current term and your role. Administrators see school controls; teachers see their own share. A low or empty balance may need a school allocation. Ask support to investigate a charge using the task reference without sharing private prompt content.
If an action fails, preserve your draft, read the error and check the connection. Reopen the same task or list before retrying to avoid duplicate submissions or extra credit use.
