PSL Mathematics Contest
PSL Mathematics Contest 2024: Grade 8 at Acacia Crest
On Saturday 13 July 2024, Grade 8 learners sat a mathematics contest at Acacia Crest School in Kitengela. The paper mixed individual rounds with collaborative problem-solving. It was a public moment, and a diagnostic — not a stage show.
The 16 July 2024 account records the Grade 8 sitting and the individual medals announced on the day. A scored results table is available for the later 2026 Acacia Crest edition.
The sitting
A contest that rewarded real problem-solving.
The morning opened with the headteacher, Mr Gideon Mutonya, and Ken Mugambi from Kurasa. Parents were in the hall. Ms Nancy Nui presented medals at the close. Those names are from the published account of the day. Winner scores are not.
The questions ran across algebra, geometry, arithmetic and logical reasoning. Team rounds were part of the design: learners had to argue a method, not only fill a blank. That is the PSL idea in an earlier, smaller form — a sitting that still belongs to the classroom week that follows.
The 2024 sitting involved Grade 8 learners at Acacia Crest. The separate 2026 edition records twelve schools and 207 scored scripts. Read each account with its own date and participants.
The 2024 record covers the date, venue, year group and purpose of the paper. Contact the organisers for further details about that sitting.
The later sitting
The 2026 edition published the scripts.
