Senior-school pathways: hold the year, then use the official placement door
Senior-school pathways connect a learner’s interests and classroom work with the subjects a school offers in Grades 10 to 12. Explore STEM, Social Sciences, and Arts and Sports Science, then review current official selection guidance with the family.
Practical teaching guide, updated September 2026. Use the examples to discuss lesson preparation, classroom observations and follow-up with your teaching team.
Use current Ministry and KNEC guidance when advising families about Grade 10 pathways and placement. Kurasa helps schools keep classroom records; national assessment papers and placement processes are managed through official channels, including selection.education.go.ke.
The three senior-school pathways
The three pathways are STEM, Social Sciences, and Arts and Sports Science. Discuss the subjects and tracks offered by the schools your learner is considering, alongside the learner’s interests and classroom experience. Consult current Ministry guidance for available combinations and selection arrangements.
Two clocks, still
Keep the learner’s school-based assessment record alongside information about KPSEA and KJSEA. KNEC and the Ministry of Education provide the official requirements and selection arrangements. Confirm the guidance for the relevant school year when discussing placement with a family.
What Kurasa is for — and is not
Workspace keeps plans, attendance and formative evidence against curriculum indicators. Teachers and parents can use this record to discuss the learner’s interests, practice and support before using the Ministry’s official selection process.

The year, then the portal
Hold the evidence. Use the door that actually places.
Formative work is the weekday. KPSEA and KJSEA remain KNEC’s. Parents should see the year, not a reconstructed closing-day story.
