Who can use this feature

Open the correct school workspace and its class attendance register. Marking requires the class-teacher assignment and attendance access; a staff role alone does not assign a class.

Before you start

Confirm the school, academic year and date before recording anything. Check that the learner belongs to the selected class for that year.

Create the class, assign its class teacher and link the active learners before opening the register.

Picklist prerequisites

ChoiceOptions come fromEarlier selectionIf missing
Class / cohortClass-teacher assignmentThe class list comes from your class-teacher assignments in this workspace. Ask an administrator to check the assignment and academic year if it is empty.Learner rows load after choosing a class. Add or link the active learners to that class first; changing a role label does not populate the register.

The register supports Full Day (1), Half Day (2) and Absent (3). P, H and A appear in history. A dot or blank means not marked; it is not an absence.

  1. Open the class register. In School attendance, select the day, open the class and choose Take register; an existing register offers an edit action.
  2. Confirm the cohort and date. Read every learner row; Full Day is selected initially and still needs checking.
  3. Choose Full Day, Half Day or Absent for each learner. Add a short comment where it helps the next check.
  4. Review all rows and choose Submit. Wait for the success message, then reopen the same class and date.

If section tabs are hidden on a phone, open More where available. Swipe wide tables sideways to reach every column.

On a phone, close the navigation drawer. Learners appear as individual cards with Full, Half and Absent options. Work down every card, type any comment, then scroll to Submit. Reopen the same class and date to verify.

Save and verify

Check that the saved marks and comments match the register you intended to submit. Check the class total and any learners still unmarked.

Troubleshooting

No learners or no class to select?

Check class-teacher allocation, the academic year and active class membership. Do not create duplicate learners to fill an empty register.

If saving fails, keep your notes, check the connection and read the error. Reopen the same class and date to check what was saved before submitting again.
