Who can use this feature

Sign in to the correct school. Formative marking uses your teaching allocations; creating groups, importing marks and releasing reports require the appropriate school permissions. Your plan and enabled modules determine which menus appear.

Before you start

Prepare the class list, teacher allocations, curriculum and school calendar. Use the school’s configured rubric: Ghana CCP content standards and indicators, Kenya CBC/CBE strands and indicators, or the configured national or international programme. Check school settings before applying a grading scale.

Have the correct group, class paper, learner admissions and verified source marks.

  1. Open the group paper or your Marks upload list. Check class, subject, paper total, date and deadline.
  2. Enter marks within the paper total. Individual valid entries save after a short pause; wait for each saved status before moving on.
  3. For an administrator import, open the classroom’s Summative tab → Upload marks. Select the group, download its current template and preserve ADM admissions and subject labels.
  4. Choose the .xlsx file, sheet number, starting row, level and appropriate totals options. Check the preview/instructions before Import.
  5. After entry or import, reopen the paper and compare a sample of learners and any rejected rows with the source. Resolve gaps before submission.

Prepare the import template

Open the classroom’s Summative tab and choose Upload marks. Select the test group and download its Totals + Scores template. Keep the ADM admission column and configured subject labels; unknown columns are ignored. In Advanced, the usual defaults are Sheet Number 1 and Start Row 2. Start Row identifies the row containing subject labels, not the first learner row. Check your actual template before changing either value. An .xlsx file and the selected group are required; select at least one affected level when importing totals.

On a phone, close the navigation drawer and work through one learner or field at a time. Scroll down to the action buttons; wide tables may also scroll sideways. Use landscape for comparison, then recheck class, period and learner before saving.

Save and verify

Saved marks match the source, paper total and learner identities. A successful file upload still needs a check of the resulting rows.

Wait for a saved confirmation, then reopen the same record. A draft kept on this device is preparation; it is not a saved school record. When a connection fails, check whether the first request succeeded before trying again.

Troubleshooting

Import rejects a file or a mark does not save

Check .xlsx format, headers, admission numbers, import labels, sheet/start row, totals settings, deadline and paper status. Correct the source before retrying; a blank mark is not zero.

A list or menu is missing

Check workspace, role, enabled module, academic year and allocation. Choose the parent option before its dependent field. Ask the administrator to correct the setup; avoid duplicate classes or learners to populate a list.
