Who can use this feature
Sign in to the correct school. Formative marking uses your teaching allocations; creating groups, importing marks and releasing reports require the appropriate school permissions. Your plan and enabled modules determine which menus appear.
Before you start
Prepare the class list, teacher allocations, curriculum and school calendar. Use the school’s configured rubric: Ghana CCP content standards and indicators, Kenya CBC/CBE strands and indicators, or the configured national or international programme. Check school settings before applying a grading scale.
Review the learner’s saved observations and relevant term records before writing.
Required and optional fields

| Year, term, class and assessment scope | Check before continuing | Choose the available year, period and class or group for the view. Choose term, role and class
Screen walkthrough · 0:45Download GIF ↓- Open Termly comments. Select term, your commenting role and the class or allocated subject.
- Load the learner cards and confirm each learner’s identity. Review the available assessment summary.
- Describe an observed routine or approach, the support used and one next practice step. For example: explains groups with counters; next, compare two arrangements.
- Review the wording, then save each learner’s comment. Subject, class-teacher and head-teacher comments use their respective roles.
- Reload the same term and role to check saved comments. Review the report wording before the school releases or shares it.

Choose term, role and class
Screen walkthrough · 0:45Download GIF ↓On a phone, close the navigation drawer and work through one learner or field at a time. Scroll down to the action buttons; wide tables may also scroll sideways. Use landscape for comparison, then recheck class, period and learner before saving.
Save and verify
Saved comments are specific, respectful and supported by records, with a manageable next step.
Wait for a saved confirmation, then reopen the same record. A draft kept on this device is preparation; it is not a saved school record. When a connection fails, check whether the first request succeeded before trying again.
Troubleshooting
A class or commenting role is unavailable
Check assigned roles and allocations. Subject-teacher lists follow teaching allocations; class-teacher lists require class responsibility. Draft text is not saved until that card is saved.
A list or menu is missing
Check workspace, role, enabled module, academic year and allocation. Choose the parent option before its dependent field. Ask the administrator to correct the setup; avoid duplicate classes or learners to populate a list.
