Overview

A class gives learner placement and teaching work a shared context. Check the year and curriculum level before saving; an extra stream should represent a real school group, not a way around a missing option.

Who can use this feature

Use an account with school-approved administrative access. Check the school name before managing people or classes. If the action is unavailable, ask the school owner or administrator to confirm your access.

Before you start

Open the intended school and check its current academic year. Use the school’s checked staff, class and learner lists; resolve duplicate records before adding more.

Confirm the school curriculum and current academic year. Compare the existing class list with the school’s agreed levels and streams.

Desktop walkthrough

The Class level is required; Stream is optional. The saved name combines those values. Check the current year, save once, then find the new class in the list before adding learners or allocations. Search existing classes before creating another stream.

Check the school, person or class before starting.

  1. Open Classes and check the academic-year selector. Search the class list first to avoid adding an existing class again.
  2. Choose Add class. In Class, select the level that belongs to the school’s curriculum.
  3. Enter Stream only if the school uses one, for example North. Check the combined class name before saving.
  4. Select Save and wait for the response. Read any validation message before trying again.
  5. Reopen the class from the current-year list. Check its name and level, then assign its class teacher and learning-area teachers before using teaching workflows.

Mobile walkthrough

On your phone, open the school navigation and choose Classes. Check the year, then open the class or the add-class action. Scroll the panel to reach all fields.

Tap a field to enter or choose a value. Close the keyboard if it covers the lower fields or final button. Review the form from top to bottom before submitting; leaving a drawer is not proof that a change was saved.

Return to the relevant list after the action and reopen the item to check it. On a shared phone, sign out when you finish. Keep the written steps available while you follow the highlighted screen areas.

Save and verify

The intended class appears once in the correct year, with the correct level and stream. A saved class still needs checked teacher allocations and learner placement.

Troubleshooting

The class level is missing or unfamiliar

Check the school curriculum and level list with the administrator. Do not choose a different national framework as a workaround. Confirm the existing class structure before adding more classes.

An option or person is missing

Check the school, your role, the academic year and the upstream setup first. Clear search filters and wait for lists to load. If the option is still missing, ask the administrator to check membership, class setup or allocation.

The action is blocked or the response is unclear

Read the message beside the field and correct the specific entry. If a request may already have completed, refresh and inspect the saved list before trying again. Avoid repeated submissions that could add duplicates or send messages twice.
